Talking Head Video 4: Benefits for Patients

Reme Vega describes the benefits of the ADLIFE digital toolkit to patients and their informal caregivers.

ADLIFE is a project developed for the benefits of patients, caregivers, and the staff who care for them. In our latest talking head video, Reme Vega (technical contact and data manager of ADLIFE in the Basque Country´s pilot site, Spain), describes the advantages of the ADLIFE toolkit for patients and caregivers:

“ADLIFE is an application that will allow you to play an active role in the management of your health, taking into account your preferences in order to remain independent for a longer time”.

Patients will be able to manage their own health with the ADLIFE digital tool, the Patient Empowerment Platform (PEP). The PEP enables patients and their caregivers to be informed of the patient’s care plan and actively involved in the management of their disease:

“With ADLIFE, you will have access to the treatment plan proposed by the professionals who treat you. From your home, you will be able to consult it, and carry out the activities that have been indicated to you”.

This patient empowerment approach focusses on improving the quality of life for patients, whilst enhancing patients’ and caregivers’ autonomy through participation in informed decision making and the provision of personalised care plans. Ultimately, this research project seeks to achieve a vision where patients remain independent at their place of living for as long as possible, experience a reduction in unnecessary suffering, and to introduce integrated therapies and approaches which target early detection and assessment of deterioration.
