Mohammed Omar Khan
Lead Software Engineer
Omar is currently the Lead Software Engineer at the Institute of Digital Healthcare (IDH), part of the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG). His expertise includes: extensive experience in applying rigorous software and biomedical engineering practices to the healthcare sector; a wide knowledge of programming languages including Java, PHP and C#, which he has used to design and develop multiple projects at the IDH; professional training in multiple healthcare informatics technologies such as Clinical Decision Support systems, PAS, HL7 and SNOMED-CT as well as security and data protection training in Information Governance, Caldicott principles and Good Clinical Practice.
Omar has been responsible for the development of the Comprehensive Unified Research (CURe) framework, optimising the data collection and storage features and creating new modules for clinical research specialties deployed regionally on a server infrastructure set up at the IDH. He has also been responsible for the maintenance and development of the largest national repository of childhood brain tumour images for research in the UK for the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG).
Omar has experience both in research and healthcare, working directly with medical professionals throughout the NHS (e.g. RFH, UHB, UHCW) and industry (e.g. The Marie Curie Hospice, Lloyds Pharmacy Online Doctor, British Heart Foundation).
Throughout his career, Omar has been responsible for all aspects for the product development life-cycle, including the design, development, testing, implementation and administration of multiple projects. This includes designing new features and server architecture; developing both front- and back-end components; deploying systems on enterprise grade server solutions using standard software development procedures; and maintenance of systems after deployment.
Within ADLIFE, Omar leads the Warwick Software Engineering team in Work Package 3 to design and develop the Technical and Semantic interoperability suites to support integration between the ADLIFE software solution and pilot site health record systems. He is actively involved in work packages 3, 5 and 8.
