Dr George Despotou
Associate Professor
George is an Associate Professor in digital health systems and assured IT systems at Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), University of Warwick. He is a Chartered Engineer (MIET) and a European Engineer (FEANI).
George has background training as computer systems and software engineer, with specialisation and a PhD, which he obtained in 2008, in safety engineering of complex socio-technical systems. Over the years, he has worked on numerous projects for companies and public organisations, including the Ministry of Defence, and the NHS Digital, NHS trusts, health IT companies, and the MHRA. His work was applied in projects with significant involvement from the industry. His research interest focus on complex systems integration, safety and assurance cases, systems modelling, safety and security certification, information governance, and health informatics. He was a co-author of the safety assurance related GSN and the OMG ARM standards, and is a member of the UK BSI ISO/TC215 WG, working on the ISO 80001 and 81001 standards, on safety of health IT systems.
George was the lead of the C3-cloud architecture design work package, and he has lead projects on application of new technologies in healthcare, such as blockchain and machine learning.
In ADLIFE, George is actively involved in work packages 5, 6, and 9.
