Dr Lilja, MD, PhD, assistant professor in family medicine at Umeå University, Sweden. Mikael Lilja is actively involved in different research fields within primary care as cryptosporidiosis, diabetes, colorectal cancer, and eHealth. Mikael works at the Research and Development Department at Region Jämtland Härjedalen as a researcher and has been involved in many Horizon 2020 projects. He was a member of the board of the Swedish Society for Diabetology 2011-2020 and has been involved in the development of present and previous national Swedish guidelines for diabetes type 2. Mikael also co-authored two reports from the Swedish Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Assessment of Social Services.
