Dr. Borja García-Lorenzo
Health Economist
Borja García-Lorenzo is a health economist and the principal investigator of the research group on Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC) at the Biosistemak Institute, as well as an associate professor at the University of Deusto. Borja holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and a Master's in Industrial Economics from the University Carlos III of Madrid. His areas of interest are the VBHC and the evaluation of health policies and technologies. He has made significant contributions that have resulted in publications in the most prestigious journals in his field, including Health Economics, Value in Health, Pharmacoeconomics, European Journal of Public Health, and European Journal of Health Economics, among others. He has also led reports on Health technology Assessment (HTA) for the Ministry of Health. He currently serves as the coordinator of the EvaluAES interest group on public health policy research for the Spanish Health Economics Association. Borja has previously held positions as a health economist at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona and the HTA Unit of the Canary Islands Health Service, member of the Network of Health Technology Assessment Agencies of the Spanish Ministry of Health. He has previously been a visiting research fellow at the Université de Bordeaux, the Toulouse School of Economics and the Groupe d'Analyse de Théorie Économique de Lyon.
