After a long career as a surgeon, Hamish was an Executive Medical Director and Chief Information Officer in the NHS in Wales. Now a Professor in Swansea University’s School of Management, Hamish is Director of the Value-Based Health and Care Academy. Between 2022-24 Hamish led the Welsh Government’s Digital Medicines Transformation Portfolio: a €150M+ digital healthcare programme impacting 80% population. A non-executive director of the Life Sciences Hub Wales, Hamish is the Board champion for AI and Digital and its SIRO.

Hamish chairs the Digital Inclusion Alliance for Wales (DIAW), an umbrella group of over 90 organisations working to make Wales digitally inclusive. Hamish is a senior fellow of the Faculty of Medical Leadership & Management and a fellow of BCS, the chartered Institute for IT in the UK.
